The Promise of Good Life is in the Practice of Good Health

Travelling and seeing how Negros Occidental practices such an amazing way to live a healthy life during our Organic Farm Tour last September 5 to 8, 2013, I and a few other bloggers and staff of Department of Agriculture cannot help but to feel we wanna all stay in this lovely province, not only to savor the delectable and healthy meals they offered to us, but to also start practicing a new lifestyle that involves eating healthy the organic way.

From one organic farm to another, our minds were convinced to the idea that TODAY is the right time to start living healthy. Saying goodbyes to bad habits, like eating too much junk food, could be really a mood swinger, but if we will just take one baby step at a time, nothing is impossible.

One major idea that I think moved us was the fact of having our own small organic garden in our houses. Though, it may really sound like a major effort to work on, farmer-scientists that we've met there in Negros Occidental shared to us that they also started in a small piece of land before they finally have these hectares full of heaven gifts they promise to share to everyone.

Negros Occidental: An Experience in the Organic Agriculture Capital of the Philippines (part 3 )

Visiting and experiencing the southern part of Negros Occidental is something that I've been dreaming to do really, and through the Organic Agriculture Bloggers Tour here in the Organic Agriculture Capital of the Philippines, I was able not only to visit and experience two of the most beautiful cities in the southern part of Negros Occidental, but as well as to savor their freshest and healthiest food that everyone will surely love.

Waking up early to leave May's Garden, our host here in Negros Occidental, head on to the southern mountainous side of Negros Occidental and discover two more organic farms that offer the freshest, healthiest and safest farm products in the province.

The first farm that we visited on the third day of our organic farm tour here in Negros Occidental is located at the cold and scenic Don Salvador Benedicto City. Two hour drive from Bacolod City, Don Salvador Benedicto City offers a captivating view of Mt. Mandalagan, a potentially active stratovolcano, which is actually juts like Mt. Fuji of Japan.

Negros Occidental: An Experience in the Organic Agriculture Capital of the Philippines (part 2)

The second day of our organic farm tour here in the lovely province of Negros Occidental was as exciting as the first day. With another set of delectable healthy meals for breakfast prepared to us by May’s Garden, by 8 in the morning, the group are all gathered up ready to head north and to see what Victorias City and Silay City have to offer to the healthy buffs of the nation.

The road to the northern part of the province is smooth, so we all had a nice nap while on the road. But after an hour and a half of traversing the northern part of Negros Occidental, the moment we opened our eyes, our sight were blocked by the lush herb garden of Penalosa Farms.

To be honest, my first impression to Penalosa Farms is it’s a dream vacation house for me. With almost every food that you need to stay healthy all around you, who wouldn't want to stay here longer?

Negros Occidental: An Experience in the Organic Agriculture Capital of the Philippines (part 1)

The Ruins, Chicken Inasal, Calea, Napoleones, sugar and more - those are probably some of the things that we have in mind when we heard of Negros Occidental or maybe even just Bacolod City, the capital of the province. But did you know that aside from these delectable sweets and heart-stealing tourist spots, Bacolod and the rest of Negros Occidental is a haven for organic farms that do not just offer the freshest and highest standard of fruits and vegetables, but also the most delectable and healthiest dishes that you could think of  out of their livestock, poultry and greeneries?

Organic Agriculture (OA) Bloggers

Those were the things that I experienced a few days ago when I, and a group of bloggers who are supporting the organic agriculture in the Philippines, paid a visit to the beautiful and loving Province of Negros Occidental. With its lovable people ready to share their knowledge on the best practices of organic farming, we found ourselves getting amaze on every idea and machinery that the province has presented to us. And it began in our host organic farm - the May's Organic Garden.

In and Around the Farm

Owned by husband and wife Ramon and May Uy, May's Organic Garden is a place of love for the province of Negros Occidental if I were to base it from the story we've gathered on our stay here. With a malnutrition and scarcity of healthy food to gather and harvest in the province, Mr. and Mrs. Uy decided to take a different path of farming through the help of individuals who think that it's about time to act on a bigger problem of the province.

Taking a Break at urbanbreak By Le Blanc Day Spa

Being a slave a.k.a. corporate employee here in Makati City could be oh so deadly, so don't be surprise if we have a lot of malls, parks and restaurants here, specifically in the Makati Central Business District. And do you know that other than those establishments, Makati CBD is also a haven for good-serving and decent spa houses that offer the most pampering services that suit to every slave in the metro. And the latest that I've been to and experienced goes in a name of urbanbreak by Le Blanc Day Spa.

Located right at the very heart of Makati CBD, urbanbreak is the first spa from Le Blanc Day Spa Group that is sure to fill the metropolis with soothing oasis of relaxation fit for those who seek break from their busy lives. A sanctuary that offers exclusive massages designed to take away stress, urbanbreak was my piece of heaven a few days ago that not only put me at ease but also melted my soul into a blissful state.

Upon entering Sagittarius Building here in Legaspi Village, where urbanbreak is located, I was welcomed by a set of what seemed to be reminiscent of a cozy coffee shop. The interior of this place speaks of a modernized Asian interior with an intricately designed door that leads to the massaging rooms.

The Night I Met the Talented J.A. Tan

Meeting an artist, may it be a musician, a painter, a designer as well as a digital artist will always be a pleasure to me. To be one of them is really an ambition for me, sadly, I am not as gifted as them. That's why when I went to see the exhibit of the very talented Jose Antonio "J.A." S. Tan last week at Ayala Museum Artist Space, all I can do is to be amuse to every piece he has done for his collection "...On and On... Step By Step..."

Born with autism, this Vancouver, Canada based Filipino artists recently joined the exclusive club of artists who have designed stamps for the United Nations when his artwork entitle "Victory" has been chosen and issued as a UN stamp last April 2, 2012.

One of the 8 pieces that were chosen from over 200 worldwide submissions, J.A. Tan's "Victory" was showcased to the public last August 26, 2013 at the Ayala Museum Artists Space together with a dozen more of his artworks that are just truly magnificent.

Habitat for Humanity Philippines Reaches Out to Noveleta, Cavite

It was the best thing to start my "ber" months, indeed. With new office mates whose dedication to work is unquestionable and volunteers whose love for mankind is way beyond their strength, last September 1, I had an opportunity to finally get involved with something that is just perfect to melt my heart away as Christmas Season approaches, the Habitat for Humanity Philippines reach out program in Noveleta, Cavite.

Cavite, the province that is badly hit by Typhoon Maring and Southwest Monsoon Rain, was our destination last Sunday. With cleaning kits already delivered at Noveleta's Municipal Hall, the moment we arrived there, a quick briefing took place and then we were all dispersed to do the things we need to accomplish that day.

Since the cleaning materials need to be collated for proper distribution among the residents of Noveleta, Cavite, the team helped one another in repacking all the items for the cleaning kit and making sure that every kits has the needed cleaning items. Each cleanup kit consists of pail, water dipper, hand brush, push brush, mop, broomstick, rubber gloves, detergent powder, anti-bacterial detergent soap, detergent bar, alcohol, shovel, rake, among others.
