The 113th Philippine Independence Day

Since I have a new camera - a Nikon D3100 - and I named it Ne-Yo, I took him out to stroll  and see the celebration of the 113th Philippine Independence Day at the Quirino Grand Stand in Luneta last June 12.

Believe it or not, for almost 28th years of my existence here in Manila, last Sunday was my first time to see the country's celebration of independence day at Luneta. Hhihi. I'm not really expecting any grand celebration since I think the government is more on promoting the 150th Birthday Celebration of Dr. Jose Rizal, but nonetheless, I had a great time taking snapshots of the things happening in and around Luneta. And also I had a great time trying my first DSLR. ^_^

I arrived at Rizal Park around 3:00 p.m., and I was actually surprised to see a lot of things happening there. There were some tanks and military trucks displayed courtesy of Armed Forces of the Philippines. There were also soldiers who were all so nice and happy taking pictures with everyone who wish to have pictures with them.

There were some who are taking the opportunity to showcase their talents and skills, while the local government units and national departments put up some booths for our fellows who wish to buy local products at a very affordable price.

I also got a glimpse of these Rizal books and memorabilia that were on sale. Unfortunately, I didn't bring some spare money with me, I really wanna have that huge copy of Noli and El Fili.

After some minutes of strolling and taking pictures in Luneta Park, I decided to go to Quirino Grandstand to see what do they have there. But just before I got inside the vicinity of Quirino Grandstand, which was barricaded that day, I went through a Presidential Security Group (PSG) inspection, which was a first time for me. ^_^

Well, the guard on duty, who was kinda grumpy, asked me to take a picture of the plastic bottle in front of us. I don't know what was that for at first til I realized that it was done to make sure that my camera is a real camera. Then, he put this PSG sticker on my new camera and let me through. I asked him if I can take a picture of the other stickers, but he said NO in a military way. I got scared so I went straight inside and never looked back at him. Hehehe.

Lucky Ne-yo and I, the time we got near the grandstand, President Ninoy Aquino just arrived with the whole AFP officers, and the program and parade was about to start.

I didn't finish the program since I don't like Noynoy as president. Hahaha!

Happy Independence Day, guys!
I'm hoping that you had a great Independence Day too! ^_^
