A Celebration of Talent at Avida Centera’s 3D Street Painting Festival

I think this is one of the most fun events that I’ve been to this year. With all the creativity  - colors, ideas, concepts and executions, needless to say the cute artists doing these art pieces, Avida Centera’s idea of showcasing our artists’ talents through a 3D street painting competition is one fucking awesome! ^_^

I usually see these kinds of paintings on the Internet and they are really amazing! Admit it, you’ve been wowed once or twice by these kinds of art pieces, right? But did you know that when you see how these amazing paintings starting to have a life right under your noses, they are more amazing!

And that’s what I saw last Friday!

Held at the soon-to-be spot of Avida Centera at the corner of Reliance Street and EDSA in Mandaluyong City, Avida held a competition which exemplifies that greatness of our young artists.

About a dozen of young artists gathered last Friday at Avida Centra to show their over-the-top talent to bag the title of Avida Centera 3D Street Painting Festival champion.

With a theme “Fast-forward: Life at the Center of the Metropolis,” each group came up with different ideas on how this theme can be interpreted through a three-dimensional painting.

The competition proper started at around 8 in the morning. Around 10 groups appeared by 8 a.m., one by one, they prepared their materials and their short-listed design for this two-day fest. By around noon til the afternoon, more competitors braved to face the challenge and sketched on the asphalted floor their approved designs.

Around dinner time, some were already done but there were still a lot who are working on their pieces.

By 9 p.m., as I was about to go home, I can already see where their pieces are going that’s why I already have my top three in my mind.

Let me remind you about the prices of this competition - a glass trophy and Php30,000.00 for the 3rd Place, a glass trophy and Php50,000.00 for the 2ndPlace and a glass of trophy and Php75,000.00 for the Champion.

Sunday came, and the announcing of winner was held. Though I didn’t made it to the announcing, my friend told me that the top three winning art pieces are:

Metropolis Mania by Team 4:20
3rd Place

The team members are Issay Rodriguez, Kat Fallaria, Ralph Barrientos, Analeah Aldaba and Clara Herrera.

Connected and Green by  STYCON or Style Concept
2nd Place

The team members are Alvin Anoneuvo, Manolette Tizon, Jensen Gonzales and Paolo Cea.

Greater Access to Convergence by Guhit Sudlungan
Champion

The team members are Arnold D. Lalongisip, Neil C. Defeo, Joel U. Chavez, John Mark L. Saycon, Melanio B. Bulauitan III, Jasper C. Barra and Justito L. Fadriquela Jr.

For the other teams who didn’t make it, they can still bag some trophy and cash prizes because Avida also opened a Facebook Most Liked Painting contest where teams winning and non winning teams can still bage more prizes.

So, for all Facebookers who would wanna to be a part of this ultra fun event, just visit Avida Centera Facebook Fanpage and start clicking that ‘LIKE’ to help your favourite art piece win!

Holding a competition like this is really an amazing idea. It is just helping our young artists to promote their fresh and unbelievable ideas but also it influence and inspire other others, Filipino artists, to do better on their artworks.

I really enjoyed everything – every color, every idea, every concept and every execution but most especially every cute artists! Hahaha!
