Mead Johnson Celebrates Nutrition on their 42nd Year

On the celebration of the 42nd Anniversary of one of the world’s leading formula milk producer, Mead Johnson Philippines gives back to its consumer a love and care that will help kids who are suffering from Orphan Diseases.

These diseases are called 'orphan' because patients with these diseases are not currently getting enough support to make them strong, healthy and normal.

Today, there are about 41 children in the country who suffer from rare metabolic diseases such as Maple Syrup Urine Disease (MSUD), Phenylketonuria (PKU) and Methyl Malonic Acidemia (MMA). These diseases are metabolic disorders where a child’s body lacks certain essential amino acids that help them to metabolize protein. Not a lot of people know about these diseases so when patients are brought to physicians, they are usually in the late stages already. If they are not detected and treated early enough, the children will either be mentally retarded or worse they will die.

With Mead Johnson’s vision in giving quality health care and optimum development, they are the only private company as of now that provides the milk that costs P3,200 a small can, when bought in commercial establishments, that help these poor children cope up with their lives.

During the short program held at Mead Johnson’s office, Mrs. Ballsy Aqino-Cruz and Secretary Dinky Soliman of Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) graced the event to meet the patients of these diseases and to congratulate Mead Johnson for their heart-warming advocacy in helping poor families in supporting their child/children needs.

It was a heart-warming event that I myself met these cute little kids who are victims of this unfortunate disease.

Mead Johnson also showed us a documentary telling the stories of these children and their family that really touched and melted our hearts so much.

With this, Mead Johnson in partnership with non-government organization Kabisig ng Kalahi will work together and help address the problem of malnutrition among our Filipino children. There will be a series of feeding product which will be led by these two organizations. And with the help of DSWD, they’ll do a series of programs that will make sure they’ll achieve their goal in exact time.

 Mrs. Ballsy Aquino-Cruz

Thank you, Mead Johnson! I know that this fight of yours is a long shot with all the government’s programs of stopping formula milk producers from advertising or promoting your goods, still, you never loose your mission in providing good nutrition and optimum development towards people who need it most.

Keep it up! And may God bless you all for your good heart.
